End of the line.

I have a book on the 109K Turns out it was a development from the 109G10. I found on photo that showed the lower cowling and I could barely see the support you added. I don't think that was a drain tube, I believe it is a support. I built on something a little while back that had wing radiators that had a center support just like this.

Fo 870 oil cooler with the hydraulic arm that controls the shutters on a Bf 109G-2. No drain pipe there... The DB-605DCM and DB-605L which powered the Bf 109 K series would have a very similar shuttered oil cooler (Fo 987).

One thing to look to, as many models missed it, is the ejection ports on this panel. Image from the manual (feel free to ask as I have a whole set):

It is round instead of streamlined, as one would expect of a drain...

Reinforcements, as seen on the underwing radiators of this Bf 109E-3, are usually streamlined with wide bases to spread the load...

Yes, I seem to be muddying the water!

I knew I had seen and done some 1/32 scale braces on radiators. They were on the E-3 I have that is about 70% done. They are really thin and narrow.

Well the K4 was the next step from the G6 but not all the factrories had all the parts and some factories had to use what they had left over first, like with their tank development, so the G6 frames were upgraded and built with as many of the K4 upgrades as possible resulting in G14's, G10's, G6AS etc, with a lot of these being built in tandem with the actual end game machine, the K4.
I have a lot of end of war Me 109 stuff James including 2 rare books on the K4, so let me know if you need anything.

Thanks everyone. I finally had a bit of time to check my books and it looks like the oil drain tube is fluch with the skin. As for the strut, from everything I could see the K4 had a round bar, not streamlined. Some excellent ref photos Saul, thank you. Which books do you have one the K-4 Ian?

Here are a few of my best ones, with the JaPo titles being the best by far.
The first 2 JaPo's are really good, giving all manner of details on everything, even an analysis of black and white photography with a chart to use to understand the types of film and how they effect certain tones of colors in B+W.

and a few profiles of K4's that I like just to show you a few examples of the excellent artwork in the JaPo books

Nice. I have 11 of those Ian. It seems really difficult to collect JaPo books here.
Saul is the Cara Tere book new? Is it any good?

What really ticks me off is my wife arranged my library shelf so I cant find anything, and I am not able to get it set up to my liking. Its become a very long term project to rearrange things.

Forget my question Saul. I bought it, but its buried somewhere in the shelves, sigh.
