Excellent progress Pup! I was also thinking that the .30 caliber ammo cans could be filled with sand as extra protection on the floor, provided they didn't need any .30 caliber ammo. However, James cleared that up fairly well already.

Life Colors, not sure I like them yet. Didn't really have instructions with this set so I'm assuming the "Ground" color is the base, I have a darker shade "Deep shade" and a lighter one for "Flash shade".

I thinned it with water (bottled) but it seems to have sputtered a a bit. Will add some retarder to it next session. I know, I can get the Life Colors thinner but where's fun in that?

Right now this looks just too faded for Vietnam era OD. What y'all think?

I don't know if it is the lighting or not but that color looks way too light for an Army vehicle of that time period. Although there can be variances in paint batches the color was still very dark being almost black in some batches. Since you are modeling a gun truck belonging to a transportation unit you would want it more on the darkish side because those guys took a lot of pride in how their trucks looked so besides dirt and mud from the roads you wouldn't see the chipping and damage other than battle damage that you might see on other vehicles.

For the Vietnam-era colors I usually prime with flat black then apply a coat of Vallejo US Olive Drab which gives a brownish undercoat color to the Reaper Black Green I use as the final base color before weathering. I have found that this combination works quite well. My suggestion would be to use a black green color applied as an overcoat to what you have already painted. Vallejo black green should work well.

Thanks James, I agree, this OD is far too light. I can see it nicely on an old faded warbird but this is not SEA era OD.

My take on OD - I used Vallejo OD (James pointed it out), then, the full Bob Letterman treatment - wash, dry brushing etc etc etc.

Couple of shots of US vehicles that were done that way.

I like this one better, Valejo US Dark Green with a drop or two of black.

I drapped a part that had the Life Colors green, you can see just how light it was.
