Banished to the Eastern (Russian) Front Diorama

Well I have always heard of being sent to the Eastern Front ..... Question is what does the Eastern Front look like? .... Suppose it isn't a place you would like to go .... So I thought I would make a Dio of the Place. This one is 28 X 29" could be a problem since it is my 1st Dio .... But I have Shepard Paine's Book & have read it ..... It will take me awhile to build this as I'm starting over without photobucket and I must download my stuff that is there ...... :frantic

Thanks Ron I'm Purdy far along on this just started with the plaster Thursday night ..... still working out the terrain ..... Yes I've had some of these kits since 2009 & really can't remember where they came from ... stay tuned fighting with PBucket right now ....

Thanks MP ..... I'm considering closing my Photo bucket as I don't have a reason to use it anymore ..... all the threads that were tied to it went away, so it really isn't used anymore. Photo bucket is a thing of the past now plus there is the gallery that Ron pointed out to me ..... Just there are photos on PB that I don't have on my hard drive since the putter crashed once and I lost those photos .....

Ok I have my PB all downloaded & photos straight ..... so We need to continue ....

This Hotwire foam cutter is the only tool for the job ..... ldguy

Progressing with lower level of river bank ....

Starting on second level I'm going to have a low water crossing .... But I want to show the high erosion levels of river bank ....

Here I'm putting in a road or landing on one side of river ......

Second level of far side of road / landing .....

I cut the top for the far bank where I need a trench/bunker and temporarily taped the radio operators tent together ..... :frantic :facepalm :frantic

Not enough space!!! The only answer was to add a extension ..... So I did ......

This would be the new bucker/trench area ......

Now I'm put ing in the other side of the river landing ......

Looking down at the area where the Armored Personnel carrier will be posted ..... should be a ruined building around it I think ....

The view from commander on pontoon bridge ..... He won't be able to see His demise ..... :frantic

The bunker is a little deep but it will give a good view of the river .... and other bank ....

I enlarged the APC's Bunker exit .......

This is a great bird's eye view of the Eastern Front ..... We're getting there ..... :captain

Now we start with the Woodland Scenics plaster cloth ....... Stay tuned Ya'll Digest these photos ......

Here's the bridge on the water or close to where I what is .... With motor launch .... on the far side a Panzer IV chassis .... Not sure if there is room for it here .... I may have to find a smaller vehicle ....

The Hot foam cutter was good but .... I bought a Tippi cutter which is much better as you can make custom shapes for cutting plus has the straight cutter attachment ....

Filling in the back side of bunkers .... I cut some craters in the foam With the tippi .....

I've repaired the bridge ...... and working on the pontoons ..... There is a nasty seam right in the middle of the rafts ......

There you go I must be off now to my SCV meeting ... comment & criticism's welcome
