WNW Tripe OOP

Well looks like I might have ordered the last Sopwith Tripe from WNWs. When I ordered anoither W.12 this afternoon on impulse a Tripe and a Pup jumped into the basket also. Now the Tripe has joined the list of Out of Production kits. :blink :D

Chris and I were talking about that thing yesterday. Hold on to it James, get the WNW guys to sign it before it hits the door!

I find it difficult to believe that their OOP kits will never be released again. The are not limited run kits made from expendable tooling and I don't see them dumping the tooling in the sea. I have to believe that sooner or later these kits will see the light of day maybe a different version or with different decals.

Could be that they've decided to cease production in order to open up production capability for newer kits. But as long as they've got the molds they can always make more eventually.

Are they injection styrene or resin kits?

If styrene, they have a ton of cash tied up in molds, it wouldn't make sense to do anything but take out of the lineup for a while, maybe for re-release or it just doesn't fit in the lineup at the moment.

If it's resin, the molds only last for a certain term and you either have to remold or let it go.

They are fabulous styrene kits- some of the nicest ever made. I imagine that triplane made be reissued in tandem with a future release in their "Duellist" series.

The OOP W29 kit is being releasd in a duelist kit with the new flying boat. Going to need deep pockets to getit though.
