WingsXL is closing shop

This will be of interest to the 1/32 scale guys. Martin has left a note at LSP http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=39913 that He is closing shop. He was the one who got the ball rolling on the B-25 kits and forthcoming B-17. After a falling out he restarted and we were looking forward to a 1/32 B-26, A-26, and P61 this year.Oh well I guess that means I can save for the 1/32 Lancaster due the end of this year.

I received an e-mail:

"Dear all,

Herewith we regrettably must inform you all about our decision to end our project - WingXL.
Our website will go offline soon and work on the kits will be terminated.

There are several reasons for this:

1. After comparing the effort, commitment and sacrifices we have made for WingXL and the results we have seen so far, the negatives for continuing on at this moment outweigh the positives. We feel we cannot give the extra time and effort at the moment to get it our “best shot”

2. The European financial climate for entrepreneurs, especially for starting up businesses like this, are not favorable at the moment. We also expect a further unacceptable increase of our personal financial risks involved. After thorough evaluation we both decided not to continue.

3. My partner’s other business of is at the moment exceeding sales expectations massively and therefore he needs all his attention more than ever. This is at least more than a one man operation.

4. Recently there also have been offered some interesting jobs to me and taking in account above reasons, I strongly feel I am open minded for such new opportunities.

We like to think Wingscale and WingXL had some indirect contribution in attracting interest from other manufacturers and we think hopefully made larger companies think about larger scale kits as well. Recently other manufacturers have definitely made some of the bigger and longtime neglected items in 1/32. We hope they continue with this trend.

As well as this the discussions on the forums about larger scale aircraft and interest in our products did attract some attention for sure. The golden era for 1/32 scale kits is good for our hobby and all of us plastic modelers. Hopefully the quality we were trying to achieve comes your way in future releases. Thanks to our fans who believed in our vision.

We had a good time and strongly believed we could pull it off, but unfortunately for us life got in the way.

Thank you all so very much for your support. Especially those people who contributed directly with the development of the specific subjects and other general WingXL issues.

Thanks to those who stuck with us when others could not. You modelers deserve a pat on the back.
We cannot express enough how highly we appreciated that!

Again, thank you all and our sincere apologies it did not work out as advertised after all and as we all hoped We hope you all just have fun building your plastic model kits!
