I have just read a new book called White School, Black Memories by CWO Barnes. I couldnt put it down and finished it over 2 nights, sleep is overrated anyways. There was a lot I could relate to and a lot I could not. It was a very emotional book and I laughed at some of it and cried at more. While its title is from Afghanistan this book follows a young Newfoundlander joining the CF becoming a RCR and through to retirement. Its totally non PC and does not pull any punches. CWO Barnes lays out his mistakes and triumphs and his demons in a very well done logical way. Its as if he was sitting talking to you. I got mine from Amazon.ca the day after it was released.

He joined just a couple of years after I did and looks like we shared some of the same space on a couple of postings. For anyone who is interested in the Canadian Military and the effects of PTSD. Its given me pause to reflect on my time in even though I went from an Armoured Corps Reservist to an Airforce Tech. Well worth the time and money.
