Whats your handle?

My Dad was one of those hard-boiled old guys that never could utter the words "I love you" or "I'm proud of you".
It was a generational thing I think.
Only completement I got from my dad that was not prompted by my mom was when I was digging a water line with a backhoe for him (long story). Actually my first time actually running a backhoe. He told me to run the trench from here to there, he was impressed I was able to dig a straight line. I can't draw a straight line but apparently I can dig one!

Same here... Until he got really sick. Growing up, I take it they weren't going to compliment us for what they believe was expected.

Prior to Sharkmouth in the Internet, some called me Stinger... Yes, I also liked the band, The Police... Perhaps I misheard Stinker? :stinker:
:smack:

My last name is Schmidt and the guys would always leave the m out. My Dad was disappointed that I didn't start smoking when I was in the Army.
He said that "never trust a man who doesn't smoke". So he died of heart disease just before turning 65. And he was a heavy drinker too. I was named after Gary Cooper. Gary S.

My Father was a contractor ,
And In my free time, no school, I always wanted to go to the worksites .

And some of the workers had a nickname
He gave me Piet... I had my own tool belt, and in my younger years I was responsible for straightening nails.

And the name stuck to this day ,
Friends , acquaintances still call me Piet.
My oldest brother calls me Pietje (Means small piet )

My real name is Maarten ,For english speaking people it sounds like Martin
I've been to your Caribbean Island! It was lovely. If we ever meet in person, I shall lobby for your sainthood, my far flung friend!

In the Navy your call sign might have been "Messer". Your namesake is a dandy one!

Well, my last name is Shaver (someone along the line Anglicized it from Schaffer) and in my first year of college there were 7 Dave's in my class so we all got nicknames. Mine was Razor because of my last name. When I got on the internet razor was usually taken so I added my initials.

My mother used to say, if i wanted you to be called Paddy i would have called you Paddy but i didnt...i called you Patrick...
I used to say, its pretty Dumb calling a kid Patrick and not expecting him to be called Paddy...especially with a brother called Mick.

As a biker in my "younger" days we all had girls names. it was a sort of challenge to anyone who found it funny to say something and give us an excuse to kick off. We had an Agatha , Gertrude , Simone and so on, i got off lightly as Polly :)

Well, to be perfectly honest with yall, my nickname as a tiny tike was Budda, big fat pot belly Budda, looked like a Budda statue. Then, as I was in my later tike years, before the tweenies, it switched to Buddapest, cause they always thought I was bothering them. That's the joy of being the last of 6 kids, ya get the left-overs, hand-me-downs, and ya get hacked on constantly. Go figure. I got em all back later in life, I'm bigger than all of em, HA!

At least my nick name wasn't Sue!

My little brother was a hair's breadth away from being named "Roger Wilco". Count yourself lucky! Is you whole name "Barnabus"?
Nope...

Family name... Started as Barnum and just kind of devolved... I was in 1st grade when the Andy Griffith Show and he Flintstones hit the airwaves. Before that was. the comic strip character: Barney Google.... I was finishing my degree in education when the f-ing purple guy hit the airwaves,,,

My cousin, Howard, grew up in Cabin Creek WVA and his buddy Jerry dubbed me Barnyard Millstein. Still, it is better than Chauncey, Eduard, Oral, Glennard, Roland, or any number of family names I could have been stuck with
