Westland Whirlwind

I stopped by the LHS the other day and what to my wandering eye should appear? The Westland Whirlwind from Trumpeter!

You can look up its history on Wiki, so i won't go into it here.

This kit to my knowledge has only been offered once before in 1/48 by Classic Airframes. That kit soon became one of the most sought after kits on eBay. I saw one go for over $300. OUCH! People are crazy (and occasionally really stupid).

I don't follow releases etc... I figure when my LHS calls and says, you gotta see this, then I gotta see it.

This kit comes on 4 light grey sprues and one clear sprue. The detail seems to be quite nice, the clear stuff is delicate, the decals, for 2 acft, seem to be spot on.

SO, there you go! This puppy sells for around $50. I got a discount, because it was my birthday. :coolio

Wow, if I could sell my CA Whirlwind for $300 I could buy 6 of these :woohoo: Special Hobby does one in 1/72. I have actually been waffling on this one as it is probably an easier build but I think some areas on the CA kit are probably more detailed.

Nice Barney, I loved the CA Whirlwind I built, it's such a neat looking aircraft - faster than the Mk 1 Spit too !!! hope it goes together well for you (y)
