V2 rocket

fledermaus

Master at Arms
Hi my friends, here is the first model on the recently made hobby room, the V2 rocket from Takom. the first one I did many many years ago was the vacumm form kit from schmith in 1/35, the meillerwagen was mostly scratch built just using a few of the original kit parts. this kit from Takom is excellent with tons of details and parts, but of course I needed to add more to it.

The Kit

I started by assembling the front bogie

I wanted to detail the hand brake system so I started by drilling the holes for the cables

20240227_125430.jpg

for the cables I used .45 dia. (34 gauge) brass wire and 3/64 brass tube for the cable guides.

4 small rings cut from the brass tube are used for the cable guides.

next I 3d printed the brake lines connections.

the valves are printed in a T shape as these are used in various places of the kit. the valve is cut to shape.
20240625_074155.jpg

next the holes for the houses are drilled
20240625_074620.jpg

also drilled the holes on the brake cylinders
20240425_072934.jpg

here the houses and printed connections are installed

Interesting Abdin! What are you using for reference? I might want to do this as well when I get around to this kit.

Nice detailing :good:very keen following your progress

Bought the same kit the day it came out (8 years now ? )

With in mind buying this book when it was published , but it is still hasn't been published so this kit is still untouched.

Have been to most of the launching sites ......where these actual setups were used in the Netherlands ,
Nothing to see to be honest , streets and small sections of woodland,
but it was from here the first V2's where launched against Belgium and England

There are V1 launch site leftovers to be found (concrete slabs )

Here a good Dutch site ....you could use the auto translator if your Dutch is a bit rusty

All three books V2 related are delayed for some years now ,
One has a price already so fingers crossed it will be published soon

Hi to all, time for another update on the V2 build. the work continues with the assembly of the trailer tubular chassis and the addition of
the hydraulic system lines.

this is the reference I have for the hydraulic system, this photos were provided to me by the V2rocket.com site, thanks for the help with this info.

I started by adding a cap to the VW engine gas tank, just a simple styrene disk

next I modified this parts from the back of the VW engine to make the lines connections

the reference photo

the back of the VW engine now looks like this
20240404_205043.jpg

now I drilled the holes for the oil valves under the hydraulic oil tank
20240404_205102.jpg

the tank valves are 3D printed
20240406_074448.jpg

the valves and pipes installed, this lines supply the hydraulic oil to the oil pump connected to the back of the VW engine

the VW engine gas tank printed valve and line is installed, its the small tank in the picture
20240726_205405.jpg

it connects to the back of the VW engine, also visible is the line from the oil pump to the oil valve
20240726_205439.jpg

here the hydraulic oil return line can be seen, also added a filler cap

bejind the oil valve are two gauges one for each of the lifting pistons on the rear, this are 3D printed and drilled to connect the lines, each gauge has two lines out and return

the lines are made for the gauges
20240417_073324.jpg

first gauge is installed, the line runs to one of the pistons and back

the second gauge is installed
