Useless Tools

No, I'm not talking about the persistent troll on the internet.

I'm talking about the tool you bought that looked like it may be pretty good that ended up being nothing but a waste of time. I have a larger stash of those than kits! I'll post pictures later of some of them but share yours.

the tamiya zimmerit tools!

nothing one of my old mark1 shooting gallery trophy screwdrivers could do as good as the tamiya offering!

i regretted this buy a lot! could have spent that money better on some #11 blades or some colors!

Useless tools ? , .................. isn't that what Viagra is for ?

Actually there is one that I hardly ever use and just gets in the way .................

Something on that desk looks a little out of place...not the sledge, the Rebel Flag tag! Little North of the Mason Dixon ain't ya Johnny Reb!?

My useless tool? I picked up on of those little micro suction cup part holders once...USELESS! Just the other day I picked up K&S pipe bending wire whip looking thingies. Don't know how to describe them so a picture will follow later.

Yep did the K&S thing - funny it was the first thing I thought of when I read the title.

Wives don't count? - wait I did not buy that - but still paying

Now I can't wait to see the pictures! I bought a set of pipe bending springs as I used them during my aircraft restoration phase when working on hydraulics (at one time I had both Airframe and Powerplant licenses along with Avionics). Now in my life, A & P simply refers to a supermarket.

Regards,

My entry for World's Most Useless Tool.....

img_2730_20100321_1560014015.jpg

Lighted tweezers that won't pick up anything, but I guess it's important you see what you can't pick up! What a hunk o' crap! Thank goodness they were a freebie!!

Hey!!! they're mightily cool :woohoo:

They look like some funky Star Trek medical gizmo:

McCoy to nurse: "Could you please pass me the Laser Tweezer 3000 please"
McCoy to patient: It won't hurt, honest

 :silly:  :silly:

First I gotta outright disqualify the one between my ears, :pinch: which I believe that some here will probably suggest ;) .

After that, I have two surviving categories. The first is tools that I have bought, and just never used. And this is going to be my entry. It is the zimmerit roller, and I think it is from Lion Mark, but I am not sure. And to be honest it's not that it is useless. It's just that as stated, I just have never used it. And with the DML putting out more and more kits with the zimmerit on, I don't think I ever will.

The next one is something that I used a couple of times, and was just never as good as the simple choice of using the back side of an X-acto #11 blade to do the same thing. It is the Squadron panel scriber. And after using it only a few times, it is about as sharp on both ends :S .

And I haven't even gotten into the ones that I have thrown away in years gone past.

I'm going to second some of the tools mentioned. The scriber...yeah, I usually take and poke the back of a road wheel or something and use it as a paint stand. Sometimes for applying white glue or stirring paint. Most useless tool I have...hmmm...I do have a giant crow bar in my workshop. Does that count?

Hey, don't knock the light up tweezers Iron Mike! :) I have a pair with a flatter grip that is perfect for putting fiddly little parts into dark recesses.
Although, outside of scale modelling, I would imagine that they would really only be any good for nose hair removal.

My sight went straight from Cheyenne's sledgie to the stash of kit packed up in the corner. Images like that make me wish I was either a few more years into this hobby or incredibly filthy rich.

I'm glad yours work well, because the ONLY thing mine are good for is using the light to find the part that gets tweezer launched from them, somewhere across the room. Oh, that is only if you manage to pick anything up in the first place! The tips CROSS when squeezed, totally worthless!

Talking on Swanny's about this tool and I realized I never took that picture
