Trumpeter T-34 RC conversion.

Master at Arms
I've had Trump's 1/16 76/42 kit since it came out in 2003. I never got around to hyper detailing the static kit really deserved, so I ear marked it for a day when I would animate the thing.

I've finished the painting, I'm waiting on a set of tracks for it (The static tracks won't last too long in battle), then I'll do the final weathering. All the markings were masks and stippling, the paint is Vallejo Russian Green with Dark Yellow highlights. The front steel plate is oily steel with a vsariety or dry pigments rubbed in. Some simple washes and oil staining. The Mud was airbrushed on.

I can provide photos of the mechanical end of the conversion if you're interested.

Here's a video of functions:

Very very cool. What is used to make the gun firing effect, LED or a strobe? Does it have a sound recording or something for sound effects? Just neato (y) (y) (y)

Thanks guys.

James, it's a xenon flash strobe in the barrel. It's not too visible in the video, but pretty bright in person. Battle rules dictate there has to be a visable flash and/or recoil to indicate fire since the IR emitter is invisible. Tanks are classified by weight which dictates the firing rate, so there has to be a way to exhibit it.

Sound is proportional, including engine start up and revs (the Tiger is really cool with occassional hand cranking of the inertial starter), MG and main gun. It was turned downed in the video, but it's pretty loud. The unit I have in the StuG is programmable and amazing. Some RC pilots use it for adding effects like wheel squeak on touchdown. On tanks it uses specific engine recordings and that of the MGs, etc.

This build was done on the cheap with things I already had on hand, so the sound unit is left over from a Tamiya M4. At least it's allies. ;)
