track blackening source?

OK I have done several searches on here for the Track Blackening chemical that iron Mikes uses, and can only find a reference to "Black 4 Tracks." Anyone know what it is, of=r a good source for track blackening materials?

Uschi also makes a blackening compound (that I have used on brass) They all work as a chemical change to the metal. I found on the brass it turned the brass a dark brownish black and there was a black powdery residue on the surface that needed to be cleaned off.
In the end it worked quite well and the brass for the WWI machine guns looked great! I suspect it will do similar to tracks though I would just paint and weather those.

It seems like I got mine from Sprue Brothers but they don't show it now though there are other Uschi products there.

What I used on the Semovente is an old bottle of Black 4 Tracks, it was sold by the now defunct Tankrats. Uschi sells a metal burnishing solution, I've used and like it. Unca Tony swears by Novacan, a product used to blacken the lead in stained glass windows. I haven't tried it yet, but plan to soon. Blacken It is junk, sorta works on brass, but a whole bottle barely does a set of white metal tracks.

Like I said before, I wouldn't waste my money on Blacken It unless you're working with brass, even then, the results are marginal.

Several articles have been posted on the forum about how to use these products, use caution and ventilation, not to mention safety glasses and gloves (yes, even if it says you don't need to).

Guess I should also mention there are many more places to buy these products, these were the first to come up when I Google searched for them.

If I'm not mistaken there are two products. One for brass another for white metal.
