The worst war film ever ?

So here is a bit of fun. What's the very worst war film ever in your opinion...
In the UK over Christmas the BBC showed "Dunkirk" the latest version...
About 40 troops are evacuated from a beach over a couple of days by 5-6 small boats while being bombed by a single HE111 that was attacked by 3 spitfires on and off.
Quite how this related too 380,000 rescued, 12000 killed and over 200 boats lost i have no idea. Compared to the original 1950's film it was a pitiful mess, grossly underfunded and an insult to those who were involved.

Don't forget that a spitfire seems to glide forever 😁

I did not care for the new Midway, cgi seemed over the top.

I watched that on a plane from somewhere..can't remember. It was a mess, the time lines all starting from different places and ending up at the same spot. Very confusing.
My 2 worse is Midway 1976 movie, way too much love interest that did nothing to the story.
And Battle of the Bulge. Need I elaborate?

Woke-wood (Hollywood) is quickly going down the rabbit hole and throwing money away on more and more woke stories. The writers keep screwing up stories, and trying to make everything do and mean garbage like women are good and guys are bad crap. Consequently movies are bombing with disastrous results. Have not watched any of the new CW shows this year or since early last year with all their "diversity" crap either.
Watched the newest Midway movie and thought it was OK, but wouldn't have ever gone to the theater to see it. Also the new Wonder Woman movie is a woke bomb and is crashing hard. I also expect the new Marvel and other DC movies to do pretty much the same.

Staying home, modeling, and watching old DVD's and BluRays.

Dauntless was put out right around the time of the newer Midway...bought it because it's my favorite plane...the plane was in the film a total of like 8 minutes and the rest was really crappy CGI

Pearl Harbor
The Japanese planes strafing a row of modern destroyers

I couldn't take the Thin Red Line like watching paint dry

The Sharpe TV series. They scaled it down so much for TV it lost the grand scope and feel of the books

I will probably come up with more later

I used to show my classes video clips concerning the wars we were covering. Too many bad movies to name. I do have a collection of movies made during WW2 that are pretty cheesy and a few "documentaries" that should be burned. I have a collection of 36 DVDs America Stories at War that are pretty lame.

My biggest beef with movies is that with all the technology available they refuse to build accurate models and instead rely on CGI.

I'm old, grumpy, and dislike all the "stuff" from Hollyweird.

Without a doubt the new Pearl Harbor, the entire cast and crew should spend the rest of their lives in high school history classes, or given the choice to be shot instead.

At least so far they've left 30 Seconds Over Tokyo alone. Well, except for the above.

One of the old propaganda movies of the time was "Air Force". It was only made as a recruitment tool but has some lovely shots of old "Mary Ann", a C or D Model B17, there's some debate about that and the fact she changed paint schemes between McDill and Hickmand fields. Has some great actors, John Garfield, Gig Young, George Tobias (who was like in everything) Harry Cary Sr and others.
Worse part about it is the bombing, high altitude bombing with 100% accuracy on the Jap fleet. Yeah ok, next.

Where do I start? I am going to try and hit some of the ones not mentioned. Fly Boys, Red Tails, Fortress. Sgt York, while a classic it was pretty campy with everyone who was shot clasped their chest and spun a 360. There was a mosquito squadron movie and I don't remember the name of it (not 633 sqdn) starring David McCallum and I could not get through the first 30 minutes of it. Red Badge of Courage is another. I red the book and mad a mistake thinking that Richard Thomas was going to do a good job, slightly over acted.

I will agree with how bad the Thin Red Line is. Part way through it got pulled. It was so bad.

On the other hand I have "The Devils Brigade" which is old and quite good. Recently I picked up a movie "T-34" Not sure how much was CGI and how much was actual armor in use. It is a Russian film and I found it to be at least entertaining and while I am certain that there was a fair amount of artistic license used in it, there was a lot of things that are usually not thought about like how bad the tank rings inside when hit by something. I found it to be worth the watch.

Richard Thomas? I didn't know he did it. I'm thinking the John Huston version with Audie Freakin Murphy and Bill Maulden.

Rambo was kinda out there, any one of the...what now? 3-4?
Although the Hotshots Part Deux? was a good spoof of them... anybody remember that? with the Folland Gnat with the chirp chirp canopy closer fob...

I always enjoyed "Bridge to far" as it had multi strands, stories within a story. Richard Tod capturing Pegasus bridge was great as he had captured it the first time in real life :)

"Dauntless" was absolutely nauseating! See what raggedy formations the SBD drivers flew? No fighters or any other aircraft on the Ship? The utterly modern-stupid dialog. The Catalina crewmen in hula shirts and underpants? I criticized Dauntless on YouTube and started a small firestorm of comments from people who know dick about naval aviation, discipline or honor. Their depiction of our US Navy fighting men in action? :stinker: Using the USS Yorktown CGI template to depict The Big E? PUH-LEASE!!
"Fortress" was worse, but only by a hairsbreadth.

All these re enactment movies you see on youtube , 1917 and Dunkirk .
