T-72 Hull front cast?

Hi there.

I'm adding the cast texture to my ancient AMT T-72 model. I'm wondering ifthat flat area angling down from in front ofthe driver is welded steel plate or if it's a cast piece. The images I see don't really show the texture clearly.

So, is the front hull top in front of the driver cast?

Well, from what I can find since postingthat query, the T-72 hull front was a sandwich of flate rolled steel and some other stuff. Thus it does not need to be given the cast metal surface treatment on a model.

As Peter wrote, rolled steel sandwiching more good stuff:

T-54 at top. T-72 below.
