Well research of other Airfix builds seems to confirm they have found a way of chroming plastic ( not a mirror finish spray aluminum)..
Tonight i have ordered a bottle of etching fluid used for etching metal and glass. Apparently this works but makes the plastic very brittle ? strangely all the builds i have looked at for the Bentley seem to stop shortly after people start to tackle the chrome
Am i about to melt of destroy the key parts like the Radiator. some parts of the original issue kit that were chromed are not in the rebox/re issue like the dash board. which is a relief.

Paddy have you ever done any molding and casting of parts?

Did you try Windex? I've taken tough chrome off with that before.
