Snowbirds To The Rescue

The RCAF Snowbirds are scheduled to replace the USN Blue Angels as headliners at San Francisco Fleet Week this weekend. The US Government shutdown has halted all non-essential military operations leaving the Blue Angels grounded, USN ships scheduled to visit at anchor and other military assests unable to attend unless there is a quick resolution. The Colombian Navy three masted barque Gloria and an as yet unspecified RCN ship will be in attendance.

Last weekend the Snowbirds, the RAF Falcons parachute team and a RAF C-17 were the only military units present at the Huntington Beach Pacific Airshow.

Yeah, my brother is the I.T. guy at Leavenworth and he is on furlough. There is a minimal skeleton crew there at the moment taking care of things for army and large area does the payroll through his office. He told them that even though he is on furlough if they have any computer problems to call him in so he can keep it running right. He would rather do that than come back to a cluster FartUCK. All his upper management know he keeps it running fast and smooth so they don't argue with him.

Bummer, Rich. When I was stationed in Panama the Thunderbirds were supposed to do a show in '87, but because of Noriega, they landed and left the next day never giving us a show. That was not cool and we were ticked. For those of us who worked on the flight line, it would have been a front row seat. Ah, water under the bridge now,.........................
