I stumbled on to the amazing life of a stray mutt that became the most decorated war dog in history.
Stubby served in WWI with the 102nd Infantry 26th Yankee Division. Sergeant Stubby was wounded twice in combat and participated in 17 battles on the Western Front. Stubby earned the rank of Sergeant after capturing a German spy and holding him by the seat of his pants till help arrived.
The Sergeant received so many medals a special uniform was made to display them by the ladies of a French town Stubby & his unit helped liberate.
After the war Sergeant Stubby attended Georgetown University Law School with his master (whom he out ranked during the war).
The Humane Society's Gold Award was pinned on him by General Pershing himself.
Here's to a true war hero that was completely devoted to serving with the men in his unit.
