Nice start Abdin, I wonder why that type of winching system isn't used today? The large spool looks like it could generate some torque.

A little info on this rare and interesting variation of the Sdkfz 7:

The Sd.Kfz. 7/3 Feuerleitpanzer was a specialized German half-track used during World War II as an armored launch control vehicle for the V-2 (A-4) ballistic missile.

It was a conversion of the standard 8-ton Sd.Kfz. 7 prime mover, designed to provide a mobile and protected station for rocket launch crews.

Key Features and Purpose
  • Launch Control Hub: Known as the Feuerleitpanzer auf Zugkraftwagen 8t, it served as the heart of V-2 launching units, housing guidance and radio equipment.
  • Crew Protection: The rear was fitted with a box-like armored superstructure to protect the three-man crew from the intense heat and potential explosions if a V-2 malfunctioned on its launch pad.
  • Operational Role: During a launch, the vehicle was typically positioned about 100 meters from the missile. It was also used to tow the mobile firing platform (Abschussplattform) into place.
  • Mobility: By using a half-track chassis, German units could launch V-2s from widely dispersed, mobile sites to avoid Allied air attacks, rather than relying on fixed bunkers
