Re: Ref.........The Pirate Ships

Arrgg...

Blackbeard laid siege on Charles Town SC for drugs and supplies. He sent in a prisoner and escorts to collect the goods, the prisoner gathered all the goods but when he went to return, his escorts could not be found, seems the pirate escorts whipped it up in Ol' Charles Town and pitched a 3 day drunk. Blackbeard was about to bombard the town when the drunks were found and they returned to the pirate fleet. Blackbeard, good to his word released all his prisoners and left Charles Town intack, wonder what happened to the drunks...

Re: Ref.........The Pirate Ships

Hey these are like family pictures! One of my ancestors was hung in Charleston, Stede Bonnette- they still have the plaque down at the battery where he met his end. I don't think alot of people realize how historical Charlestowne was- in a way is was like a southern version of Boston. Almost all of the famous pirates walked the street or robbed a ship there, and the first shots of the Civil War, we all know what happened after, lol.

Re: Ref.........The Pirate Ships

Bonnett was setup by Teach (Blackbeard) to take that fall, can't remember where I read that now, been a while.

This sits in White Point garden in Charleston

Charleston is very rich in history going back to the 1600s, I gotta get back down there and get some pictures.

Re: Ref.........The Pirate Ships

Goodie...all this historical stuff! :)

It's amazing to see all those different pirate-flags.Seems that every pirate captain had his own flag. :woohoo:

Greetings,Ron.

Re: Ref.........The Pirate Ships

They did have their own flag. We look at it now as being romantic and crazy but we are disconnected from that time- I'm sure the pirates then were looked on with the same ire that modern maritime pirates are today. Still crazy stuff. Johnny Depp would get his a$$ kicked by Black beard's cabin girl today! lol.

Re: Ref.........The Pirate Ships

You know there's no record of Blackbeard actually killing any of his hostages?
