Possibly my new obsession...

I've replaced the spark plugs. Removed and cleaned the oil bath air cleaner (that's a fascinating piece of hardware) Fixed the stuck carburetor float, re-bent the gas line from the sediment bowl to the carb. These are gravity fed engines and somebody had an up hill bend in the line. The carb's main needle valve was turned way. Set it back to 2 turns out. I adjusted the timing. I suspect the old distributor is tired so I have a new one on the way. The one in it is a Prestolite, not original to the 1951 Ford.
The engine has smoothed out and doesn't backfire.
I think the tractor is ready to work, till something breaks.View attachment 181707
I'm getting my wife a shirt that says "I ride a Red Belly" 😉

I replaced the prestolite/Ferguson distributor with a new Ford 8n one. This tractor is mechanically simple, but finicky. I got lucky. When I hit the starter button the engine jumped to life. Boy, was I happy.
I've ordered a new set of front tires. The ones on it are Firestones and are pretty dry rotted. They may be original?
Tractor fun continues...

Fairbanks Morse hit & Miss engine behind my wife's '39 Ford Deluxe ( Her parents dated in it) and her 8N.

Excellent, pretty cool photo also Tim. Nice green grass and rust.
With all the rain we've had here the grass better be green! I think we broke a record for rainfall in the month of May. We don't have nice grass in our yard. The 3 acres of mowed yard grass is just the plain pasture kind, it was a cow field before my wife had the house built.

I put out two layers of fertilizer/weed killer in the last couple of months. My lawn turned from the worst looking to the thickest DARK green grass on the street. The front yard only has a few weeds in it now, and the grass is pretty thick and deep. The back yard is getting that way, and it was horrible.

The new front tires arrived today, but the real story about them is they made it from Lincoln Nebraska to N. Georgia in 3 days!
I noticed the ignition coil was wired straight to the ignition switch, bypassing the resister. Since I don't know the history of the coil on it I decided to get a new internal resister coil. Should be here in a day or so.
When I take the front rims of to have the new tires put on I'm going to re-pack the hub bearings with new grease.
This means the Porsche is out of the garage for a few days and the 8N is in. Priorities....haha
