It's the same Eduard kit I failed at last time. Still have Pip's decals. Don't know when I chunked the old unfinished kit but i gotta find the thread so I can see what I screwed up so I can avoid it this time.
 
I have the Accurate Miniatures version of that kit taunting me from the stash. I have heard if you build it all opened up it is a tad easier.

I don't understand why Eduard's colored stuff looks like the ol' color Sunday comics. What's wht the dotted coloring?
 
Looks like the pixel size is like .5mm, just huge dots everywhere. Not a solid color. I can't remember if the older stuff has this effect, can't remember what other kits I've done that had color zoom stuff.

I just checked out a color zoom set I have for a 1/48 P-40E and it has it also, but not nearly as bad as your set that you are using. I think the nonpainted stuff is actually better.
 
I don't have an answer for certain on the PE but I suspect the older stuff was done with a silkscreen process and it looks like the new stuff is some sort of a color printing process and the like you said the pixels are too large, it needs to be higher resolution. The bad news is that they don't look as nice but the price has gone up considerably on the newer releases as well.

Wht bother worrying about the ''pixilated'' look MP you can only notice it if you have 20/20 vision!!1 go with it - looks great to me
