Climate control was different between early and later batches... This one is later (as per the kit):

This is earlier... no vent on port side fuselage is the easiest way to tell.

Pylons must have push away bars to deflect ejecting ordnance form hitting the skids.

Saul, your info overload on this might just have me building one of these soon as well.
I actually think (and thank) @centaur567 has the information as I believe there is no better way to interpret what is seen in photos than asking someone who was there! Thanks Centaur 567! Did your Cobra have a sharkmouth?

Did you ever see the covers in place on a Cobra? I ask since I have an old Monogram kit which needs to have its canopy replaced (I didn't bother adding cockpit detail as I though I was going to cut it up for parts:
