P-38

phantom II

Master at Arms
Well guys , I don't have a new build to honor Tom with.

As a matter of fact, I barely met him but he seemed to be a very warm person . Now that I'm aware of his weakness for the P-38's it made me go to the shelf and pull this old timer out.

Not much to offer up but that's all I have. I did make a few small updates on this 30 year plus veteran. No fancy decals or after market here.

I think Tom probably would have like it .

Here's to you Tom :drinks Christian B)

Well said Christian!

I barely met him as well but agree whole heartedly, just from reading the few posts of mine and others he replied to.

Seemed like an all around nice guy!

This is the kit that got me back into the hobby in 2008!

That kit Bob is the old Revell P-38 . Probably built in 1977 . Not a good kit by today's standards .

The dragon heads are done with home made stencils and the dots hand painted.

I really like the P-38, you think I would have built another since then :facepalm .

Cheers, Christian B)

Hey, that's really Fokking nice! Oh, not the right thread!! Sorry.

Looks fantastic, Chris!!

To Tom! :drinks

To Chris! :drinks

To the lumberyard!

Nice P-38. There are so many great paint scheme for this airplane.

For the last year I have been looking for a 1/72 set of decals for Haleakala .

Apparently a hard to find item but if I do, I'll just have to go for it .

Cheers, Christian B)

Yep, and I still have one older than that. Humbrol paints don't seem to age . Only the clear coat or the decals.

The P-38 has gone to Germany twice and out west twice.

Should qualify for frequent flyer miles.

Cheers, Christian B)

Thanks Mike. Did not do any good with the little Fokker build either :rotf
