I picked up the Airfix D-Day Assult play set..diorama for the bredford tanker, there's a Tilly in there but that's too modern to set along side the DH88s.
Anywho. The Typhoon looked like a pretty nice kit so why not.

I was thinking to use the supplied paints but they are really thick. I tried thinning with acrylic airbrush thinner, looked pretty good at start but it started beading up on the primer. I'll try white spirits next. It would have been nice if the dudes were not the soft plastic "Army Men" type, they have some hardware that would have worked well sitting around.

The general opinion of the paint included in their starter kits can't be repeated in mixed company. They are supposed to be acrylic but are often dried out by the time a kit makes it to the bench. Most often they are just chucked.

When it comes to arming your Typhoon, 247 (China) Sqn flew "Rocphoons". While the Typhoon could employ both bombs and rockets, changing configuration was a significant task and the effective delivery of rockets or bombs was more art than science so the squadrons specialized in one or the other. RCAF Typhoon squadrons were "Bombphoon" specialists.

Cheers,
RichB.

Few aircraft were more feared by the Wehrmacht on the Normandy battlefield than the "Rocket-Tiffie"!
Does the Airfix kit include both 4 and 3-bladed fans?

DOH!
Snipping off the tail wheel assembly and I saw it fly off to the east. With my new hearing aids I heard it hit far side of the wall. I've moved everything, no joy, I have no double the part will show up again some time in the future and I'll know exactly what it is and when it was lost. I'll pick up that kit and start working on it again.

So, that being said I'm envoking my right to call a Mulligan and switch over to the only other 1:72 aircraft I know I have in my stash, the second kit of the F20 twin pack.

At least you are able to switch to another till the part shows.

One time I was working on a watch and a part flipped/popped. I knew right where it went, under a set of loaded shelves that I couldn't get under or behind. Had to unload the shelves, move them, picked up the part and then put the shelves and stuff back further away in the room. It was a pain and I had no other choice.

I remember one time a main landing gear piece for a f4u corsair tweezer pulted somewhere while painting and I could not find it anywhere. Finally gave up and scratch built a new one using the kit piece of the other side as a guide. Opened up the paint again to paint it and there it was, stuck to the inside of the paint jar lid. :smack:
