"Not Happy About Getting a Haircut"

Today was pretty productive. I got two more figures completed - the guy leaning against the bunker and the guy getting his hair cut. While I am pleased with the guy getting his hair cut, I think the folds and drapery of the leaning guy looks too choppy. The casting's quality was not the greatest and it seemed more difficult to paint for some reason. I may end up replacing him with another figure.

There are more photos of each in another post.

Yesterday was not as productive as Saturday, but I did get to work on some accessories that will be part of the diorama. I took a grenade crate and stacked a mortar round crate on top oil f it to make a table of sorts for the guy relaxing in the chair. On top of it are two Coke cans. The crates are from Armand Bayardi and the cans are from the Tamiya ACAV kit with decals a friend of mine made for me. I also painted a cooler from Value Gear and decided to use a Bravo 6 ammo crate for the guy getting his hair cut to sit on.

Here is the guy receiving a haircut much to his dismay. He is seated on a 5.56 ammo crate. I couldn't find the decals of the markings for the crate and I have no idea where they may have ended up, so I just faintly painted a representation of the markings.

This diorama is complete other than the title plate. I think it turned out fairly well and I hope you find it entertaining. The hair clippings may seem a bit large, but I wanted the viewer to be able to see them, put two and two together, and realize that they are supposed to be hair clippings. In regards to accessories, I just included items that were sensible for the scene and situation. I hate seeing dioramas where someone has gone overboard on stowage, debris, or accessories, or has placed items in places that are not feasible such as loose weapons haphazardly laying about a moving vehicle. That is a statement of charges for a list weapon just waiting to happen. Those of us who have served in the military know that when in garrison, or at basecamp as in the situation in this diorama, clutter and equipment being strewn about is kept at a minimum. Anyway, a cooler, some boxes to form a makeshift table, and an ammo crate for giving haircuts is all that was needed for this scene.
