Very timely post.

I was reading Blair's second Volume of the Uboat war last night and the Whitely was mentioned. I never heard of one before that and here one is... :coolio

I've never heard this a/c called by this name before: 1:48 Curtiss P-40B Flying Shark

Did I miss a memo? :coolio

Well, what intriguing timing :woohoo: The Whitley has been something I have had an interest in for a very long time.

The old Airfix version is probably my age which for kits means that the mold where probably fashioned with chips of obsidian .

The rumor mill has had this going around for years that they would actually produce a new one....eventually :hmmm

For about two years , I have been on their preorder list . Meanwhile they recently released in the UK but even my plastic dealer there tells me that they sold out before he got his order in.

Apparently, Airfix fills everyone's orders prior to filling customer's order that pre ordered :smack .

Well, lo and behold, MP ,Iron Mike and I took a road trip to Augusta, Ga today and about the first thing I noted on the front display case is a stack of new Airfix kits including a single Whitley box :frantic

This is not become a mystery story , so I am happy to report that it is now on my desk....still unopened .

I would like to think it will be way better then their old attempt and other Eastern European kits previously made.

Don't want to bore anyone with any more that this but if someone else has a genuine interest, I can post pictures latter.

I have no plans on a immediate build but I hope to get to it in the future... :frantic :frantic :frantic I'm excited. Long awaited kit of an obscure subject.
I believe those birds were the first to fly missions over German territory at the start of the war. It was already an obsolete bomber at this time.
