Horizon Models Closing

Those among us that are fans of the early US mannned space program may be familiar with this company from Australia and their line of 1/72 kits. They have all their remaining stock on sale. Once those kits are sold, that will be the end unless a suitable buyer is found to continue operations.

Horizon Models

Cheers,

Sorry to read this. I'm grabbing a Mercury Atlas just for the sake of having something space age.

The man I bought my place from was an engineer on the USAF Atlas program. 9.99 shipping from Australia!?! I couldn't pass that up.
Thanks Rich, for having your finger on the pulse of the global modeling community! :good:

Man that bites! I built their Convair Atlas and Mercury Redstone., both fantastic kits! I was hoping they'd advance to a Saturn IB, but I guess that ain't happening!

My Horizon Models order arrived from Marsden Park, NSW last Thursday, in a good solid box in just a shade over a calendar month. Impressive during the Christmas shipping season.

I ordered 2 1/72 scale Atlas missile kits and a 2-in-1 Mercury capsule model kit. My order confirmation included a warm email from Tony.

Crisp, flash free moldings that include a cool stand, decal markings for 3 Mercury missions, P/E parts and Cartograph decals for both models.
On the back of the box one can find no-nonsense instructions for assembly and markings. In my opinion, Australian-made Horizon Models are the Tamiya of early spaceflight. It is a shame Tony is closing. He obviously put a lot of passion, time and money into his products.

Before Rich mentioned this company, I had never heard of them before. Horizon Models "Walks Tall" among model makers with a very specific nitch. Excellence is still excellence.

I hope we all get our orders in before Tony's doors close.
