Model Cars Magazine

Model Cars Magazine's publication schedule appears to be very late again and subscriber deliveries are going way out.
It was a good magazine that appeared to be getting over its difficulties a couple of years back, but seems to be struggling again.
Anyone know what is currently happening with it ?

I don't subscribe to any magazines anymore, can't imagine how they get along today in the world of the internet.

I let my subscription to Fine Scale laps several years ago. I still occasionally get a piece in the mail wanting me to do a new subscription. The dropped from 10 a year during Covid to 6 if I remember correctly.
I just finally decided I didn't need the extra paper in my house and the magazines just didn't have anything in them that I really read.

Model Cars Magazine's forum broke away from being owned by the magazine recently, I would guess for a reason. Maybe the magazine will struggle on and survive, but looking at MCM's website indicated that the last copy went out in August 2025. Maybe some went out since then and the website was not updated? Who knows?

I saw a current edition of Fine Scale Modeler on a UK bookstore shelf recently. Price was about £8 and it was only half as thick as it used to be when Kalmbach published it. I gave it a miss!

Its very difficult to see where the place in the market is now for magazines. A forum like this where you can interact with the "publishers" of each "article" is at a huge advantage. And......remember for every pound you save on a magazine , there is always a tip jar :) web sites with no advertising like these have to be paid for by someone :)

And you're your on publisher here. Build what you like. News papers are having the same issue. Our local rag wants $15 a month with 3 editions per week and hardly no original content outside of press releases from the local businesses and then only from those who advertise with them. I can do the Daily Mail for 2 bucks a month if I were so incline.
