[ quote="MichelC" post=225740]Thanks Swordsman, glad you like it. Detailing is one of my favorite aspects of modeling and reading Shep Paine's book on dios I just found out how I could have used railroad modeling stuff to add even more detail to the engine. Oh well, next time... :blink

Yeah, one of the very best modeling books.

Latest progress pic, after 'aging' and 'sun-fading' the paint with the airbrush and removing the liquid masks.

Swordsman, thanks for the tip, sounds like a good idea. I think I'll visit the RR department of my LHS next time, which I've never done before! :D

Thanks, Sharkman!

Swordsman, I never had luck with flea markets but I still keep looking out for anything useful every time I go to one.

Long time no update!

Decals are on.

The decals are much too flashy, as you can see on the pic above so I weathered them a good deal.

First step: soften the decals with Micro Sol and sand them with 1500 grade sandpaper. This gives a randomly faded look. The difference can be seen between the weathered left side and untouched right side on the pic below.

Second step: spray a light mist of the base color over the decals to further fade them and blend them in.

That's all for now.

Cheers,

M
