When some og you guys said layering for the wash, shall I spray a clear coat in between the darker brown wash and lighter brown wash?

I'm not going to contribute to the 'wash' thing Zod, simply because I'l re-learning it all again so will benefit from every answer and piece of advice that you get. What I WILL say is that I really like the work you've done so far and am looking forward to seeing it progress.

Yes, put a seal coat between layers. That's not a hard and fast rule though, depends on what effect you're going for.

Sorry for the bad pics. These were taken inside the drivers lounge at a terminal. I applied MIG brown wash, the darker one over the entire model. I waited a bit, then wiped a lot off.

I guess I will spray another coat of semi gloss, then add a lighter brown pin wash.

More blending Chad, go after those brush strokes and make them go away before your next clear coat.

or a paper towel, cotton swab, your finger. With this wash right now you don't have to have any thinner on the bursh. Use a dry brush or whatever to blend in that color.

Thanks Sherman 18 and DaneBramage.

I went over this with a soft brush. I think I removed the brush strokes. What may look like brush strokes,to me anyway,is the casting on the plastic parts I did.

Very nice. :)

Thanks James,

Not sure if I should add a darker or lighter pin wash. :hmmm

Not sure if I should add a darker or lighter pin wash. :hmmm

Mix it up Chad, dark colors around the engine deck and other mechanical areas, lighter colors up high where it's just dust accumulation etc.

You don't always have to address every surface detail with the same color, that can often produce a monotone finish with the entire vehicle looking the same. Some of the most interesting finishes I've seen show different shades and tones throughout the surface area. A nice dusty panel right nest to a dark grimy panel can really pop and the contrast is very pleasing to the eye.

Mix it up a little, it's fun and can really look great! :v

Thanks for the tips Ken.
I did give it a pin wash earlier today. Hopefully tomorrow,or the 25th I can post some pix.

Sometimes I just want to give up. I went overboard on the dry brushing. I suck using pigments. So I thought I would go back to dry brushing. There is still a bit of a shine I can't get rid of. I think the real cold weather has something to do with that.

I've done that before. I re-dry brushed with the base color to tone it down. still, it looks pretty cool with all the texture raised. :coolio
