Love those Merlin engines!!!!

Did not know that. I've been wondering for a while if they should be flying these old war birds. Not for safety reasons, there's always acceptable risk. I'm thinking about the real combat vets with history. I mean would you want to see Enola Gay in the air again, how about The Swoose.

That is awesome indeed. I had the distinct pleasure to watch and listen to no less than 16 Merlin engines (and one Allison) at the Chino Planes of Fame airshow as seventeen P-51's started up, taxied to the end of the runway and took off. They flew over us several times. The final time, they were escorting a B-17 that took off to join them. My friend Sean and I were standing at least 150 feet from the lineup of Mustangs and when they all fired up their engines, we felt like were were on the flight line of an English Air Base in 1944!

What a day!
