While we are on the topic of oddball Kubelwagens, Meng is planning a summer release of a halftrack version.
It portrays one of several track and ski configurations tested on the sole prototype. The standard front wheels worked well on loose dirt and sand but in snow caused the nose to dig in. Fitting skis the the front wheels corrected the problem and various styles were tested. While it proved capable of tackling the toughest terrain it required extensive modifications to the base Kubelwagen and was very slow. As a result it was never put into production.
