italeri bergepanther info

I am starting on the italeri Bergepanther. I looked at what other people were saying about it and was not able to get any real info on the kit ...... there was a lot of basic look at me "im an expert". So needlessly to say that was no help . The on line info was not a lot of help so I turned to the trusty reference library and found production numbers from the various manufactures.
The real thing I am trying to confirm is whether or not this kit is the A chassis, or the D chassis. The one for sure is it is not the final production G chassis of that vehicle from what I can tell its an A . The other thing is being a later war variant and that these served with a variety of panthers that parts from different variants would be used on the vehicle.
If anyone can help shed some light on this I would be grateful

I am by no means a German armor expert but, the kit is the D chassis. MG port on the front being a door rather than a ball mount is a D only.

As for parts from later Panthers being used on it? You mean like track and road wheels? If yes I would say that is highly possible.

Hope that helps and hope someone who is better informed than me can throw in.

Thanks Sherman . the d variant is what I came up with also. There was 12 d variants made originally. They were all refits of cmbat panthers. Then they were attached to combat units as maintance and recovery. So yes it thing it is a good chance of inner mixed parts on these. I will be posting some work on this later. There is a lot of scratch work to be done to help this big cat along.

I'm no expert either ... what I saw on the net is very kewl ... most were saying a Aus a chassis ... :D (y)

I was looking at it again . they have done this one like a mix of the two somethings point to a d model while others say its an a variant . if it's the a 70 were produced and would account for a greater variation. I can't confirm 100% but its rumored that italeri referenced thus from a restored berge. Beyond that I don't know.
