Introduction

Hello to all, My name is Timothy Grier and I am an active duty Marine. I am moving to 29 Palms, California next month. I have been in the USMC for over 18 years. Most of my career, I have been with the tank community on M1A1's. I have also served with the infantry and am being assigned to a Light Armored Reconaissance Bn.

I model 1/35 German subject. Because I tend to move every three years, I build vignettes and not large dioramas. I am looking forward to exchanging ideas and information with you and perhaps make new friends. I also frequent Missing Lynx, Track-Link and Armorama, though I will probably keep to posting here. Please drop me a line.

Semper Fi,
Tim Grier

Hi Tim.

Welcome to T&T :cheer: . It's a great place with lots and lots and lots of information. All you gotta do is ask. So I will show you how it works. Hi Tim. It would be real cool if you could share any detail photos of the Marine M1A1 that doesn't show up in your typical magazine ;) . Also I would like to suggest that you consider joining in one of our group builds that we always have going here, like our U.S.M.C. group build that just started.Or the Xtremley Huge and Heavy build dealing with Tigers and Panthers. Just go over the rules and go from there, but if not that, then it would be cool to see some of your German stuff that you like. And again, welcome to T&T. Now just check it all out, and have fun here with all the rest of us.

Welcome Tim, and thank you for your service and sacrifice. 18 years huh, so you think you're going to stick with it??

One thing Gary forgot to mention...Pictures...we need pictures damnit! You're more than welcome to make use of our free photo gallery to host your images.

Welcome aboard!

Hey, Tim!

Randy

Anywhere you'd like to post the pictures. If you look in your user profile you'll see a tab "Gallery" and it's pretty easy from there. You can post them to the showcase or where on your intro if you'd like.

Ok, Posted some pictures. I am going to add more and reoganize how they are posted. Also, if you guys have Facebook, feel free to add me! Thanks! :side:

Great pictures, first thing, were you driving?

also note as a modeling reference, the lack of scratches and chipping. Just saying...

Nope...wasn't driving this one. I was a SSgt during this deployment (2005-2006), so my time as a driver was way in my past! I will try and find some more pics that will help our fellow modelers. I am thinking of writing a short article about how to realistically show crewmen and their mounts....

That would be great, we could give you Author rights for articles on the main page. May have to open up a new section, First Hand References.

Welcome aboard Tim! I haven't done any modern armor yet but just picked up a DML M1A2 Abrams off e-bay so will be interested in any pics you post. :)

Moon Puppy, I would love to be a contributor to this site. I have plenty of ideas for articles. How many members are part of this website?

Tom, I will continue to post M1A1/ USMC pics. Unfortunately, we don't have M1A1's in the Marine Corps. I think some of the pics, however, will be useful for weathering ideas and ideas for dios! Maybe one day I will build and M1A1 or M88A2 kit....but I have to build the 50 or so WW2 kits I have first!

Awesome photos, Tim!

Your first-hand accounts, photos and expert knowledge will be a tremendous asset to us modelers. Personally, I'm into the Vietnam era at the moment, having focused on WWII for the past 10 years. However, you've certainly rekindled my interest in the Abrams. They're fun to build. But, don't let us distract you too much from your own projects.
Thanks,
Randy

Well last I looked we have about 325 members signed up but there's more than that who swing by and look on a daily basis. Type away, we'd love to see what you have.
