Hetzer in Ardennes

First apologies for being away so long. Baseball season and coaching two teams doesn't leave much modeling time. Recent lousy, rainy weather has allowed me some time to catch up a little. I've had the Tamiya 'Hetzer' done for a while now, but placing it on the base made for a lonely scene.

I've had a number of figures in various stages of completion, so decided to finally finish some of them up as Volksgrenadiers to populate the diorama base. So I went with an 'eclectic' approach to uniform camo to finish up the figures and get some camo practice in.

Now I've got a more complete and pleasing looking diorama I think.

Hiya Mike , nice build !!!

The Hetzer and paint are killer , very nice .

Your figs. are also a beauty to behold .

The ground work is also cool , nice roadway and surrounds .

The only small detail are the pine tops , a little funky , but by no means a downer .

Cool man , glad to see you building !!!

Mike,
Love the Hetzer (my favorite German Armored vehicle)... Sorry Jenny I know you
don't feel the same way...
Great paint on her and here followers...
Nice camo and accent work on the figgies.
Enjoying the build, keep posting pictures.

Hooray Mike is back  !!!! Mike is one of my dearest friends :)

I really do love the Hetzer ! Hmmmmm Shawn when I say it is a "Gay" little tank , does not mean it is bad ! It just looks like it can not be taken seriously  .

I hope Cass and Dalton are doing well ? Give them both a big hug from Auntie Jenny :)

No worries Jenny, your opinion is always welcome... I just thought it was funny.
Shawn  :Hiay

Gday Mike
been a while huh!
A cool lil scene you have developed here mate. The colours of the terrain blend well with each other. The positioning of all the elements looks spot-on,and I like the little rise off to the side.
The pines I think have experienced the same problem as a few I have seen, in that the trunks are too thick and terminate too short? For the thickness of the these trunks I reckon the pines should be at least twice the height, but then this presents another problem then doesn't it? :blink

Cheyenne, Ken, Shawn and all -

Thanks for the feedback, and it has been a while. I'm still a work in progress on the trees, but I agree they look a little like pencils with branches. Wasn't sure how to finish off the 'tops'. Maybe broken off, instead of pointed? Suggestions welcome. Getting back into builds now that more time is availalbe. Hope to have my Tamiya PzKpfw III 'Afrika Korp' and crew finished soon. Many more to go besides that.

Jenny -
Glad to be back and couldn't disappoint my most specialist and 'dearest' of friends. Hoping everything is going well. Cassie (now 10) and Dalton (now 7) are doing super, great year for both in School, and looking forward to Summer fun.

Mike

Pins noir d'autriche

Hi Blade57
I just take your short post, and I had the same problem with the pines. I had two options, either I bought (too expensive :X ), I did it myself!. Here are my photos of a young pine, more practical than the tall pines, and finally the end of the pin. Just paste a small branch of foam!
