Henschel Type 33D1

Hi

I got this model for Christmas this year, I think it is the soonest I have ever recieved a model and started building. With almost every unit in the German Army recieving this vehicle, over 22,000 built its going to be hard to decide which unit, theatre and year I'm going to choose.

So far so good, I was a little nervous about how everything was lining up but the frame seems pretty square.

It is a great kit and accurate too. Thanks to Dewertus, I got the PART PE sets for it on Christmas. Not necessary but I don't build out of the box anymore.

Can you provide a photo of the decal sheet from Revell? Mine is the ICM kit.

Regards,

Hi
The best I could do with my camera the white did not show very well, sorry. #2 is a white Henschel for the rad. #3,4,5,6,9,10 are tactical markings. #25,26,27 are white strips for the fenders.

What I think is really cool is 16 and 15 are fighter emblems. So a personal truck of that Geshwadern maybe?

Some good news and bad.

First the bad, the little piece of model I heard fall earlier today was the handle to the crank shaft, oh well either find it or scratch build one

I haven't glued the fire wall on to the frame yet, also in the photo is the front axle and the start of the engine, lots of little parts. :blink

Hi
I found the starter handle and it is back on the truck. I have the engine about 75% complete. I'm not to happy with it as some of the locator pins are pretty shallow and not a snug fit. Also in looking for reference pictures on line I'm not 100% convinced the air filters are in the correct location and should be on the other side of the engine. I have started the cab and it is sitting loosely on the chasis. I have also started the cargo box, it is coming along nicely.

The truck is coming along ver slowly and I am getting may be one or two steps in the instructions done everyday. Lots of little parts, the fit is not to bad but Revell could have done a better job on the alinement pins and holes, on some pieces they are very tiny and it is difficult to know if everything is alined properly.

The first picture is everything completed so far with the undercarriage in the foreground and bonnet, cab, and cargo box in the background. The engine is sitting losely in the frame, I am not sure how accurate the engine is as all the research I have done shows engine componets and piping in different locations than the engine provided. Another possiblity I have not confimed is that the different configuration of the engine is due to different manufacterers. The second picture is a close up of the undercarriage.

I find myself fascinated by the range of softskin kits and subjects available to us in this gilded age. This one's looking great, Maus- soldier on, my friend- soldier on. :drinks

You're right about the different manufacturers, there were several! Alignment pins can be funny, I find myself trimming them off frequently to get a good fit on the part. Everything is looking good! B) (y)
