Happy Thanksgiving!

Turkey is in the oven, Got the big one in the oven and the bone in breast in the convection oven. Nothing fancy this year, no deep frying, peanut oil cost too much and it's a one time shot.

Enjoy your gobbly gobbly guys and girls. Happy thanksgiving.
James

Deep frying a turkey is just about the 2nd scariest things I can think of.

Tom- #1 is Thawed and #2 is DRAINED. All those turkey explosions you hear about come from jack asses that toss a frozen or half soaked bird into 450' oil. Thanksgiving was great this year and now its DONE! lol

You're right Chip, frying a turkey is easy IF you know what you're doing. I grew up in a restaurant, I knew how to fry food before I drove a car. My problem is the cost, if I were frying 3 or 4 birds for folks that would be one thing, but a one time shot!? Can't afford that.

My roasted turkey turned out great, I feel a bit stuffed myself. :mpup

boiled, fried or baked- i have never cooked a turkey myself. fried a few cheese sandwiches though.

and moon, OT with your question, my friends that deep fry like that use peanut oil. it takes nearly two galons in my 4 G fryer pot to cover a 10 pound bird- buy a two gallon gas can and use it to hold the old oil, just let it cool haha and strain it both ways- in and out. it will last for awhile if you keep it clean and before you make 6 dozen hushpuppies. lol
