Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th everyone!

Even if you ain't here...hope ya'll outside US have a good one also.

When I was a kid we use to have all day celebrations at the local "Rec" which was more or less in my back yard. Swim meets, climb the greasy pole ($50 bill was on the top of it), watermelon eating contest, baseball and just all sorts of activities all day long.

Nothing like that around here anymore. Don't know when that changed, there's fireworks display out at a local community college but nothing like what we use to have.

I got some ribs on the crock pot (yeah I'm cheatin'), will finish them off on the grill to take to my sister's house this evening.

Whatcha'll got planned?

With Old Glory and an original non-P/C GA State Flag run up the Mast, I plan rib-eye steaks and pineapple/apple/bacon brats on the grill, cornbread muffins, Cheerwine soda, more 1/700 model insanity, and then off to my Papa's house to visit with my Folk. He lives on a hill overlooking Raccoon Valley Park, where West Des Moines launches their firework display, and you can see Cumming's, Norwalk's, and DSM Golf & Country Club's feuerwerk as well.

Cheerwine? You should have visited that BBQ joint that uses Cheerwine for it's base in it's BBQ sauce, way to sweet for me but it's not bad. It's in Greenville, I'll have to google the name.
