German H39 Befehlspanzer

While sort of between projects, I was inspired by some of the smaller vehicle builds on TNT and rummaged through my stash. I found the Weijun Models German H39 kit and decided it might be a good fill in. The kit went together pretty well, although the individual link tracks provided in the kit proved to be too much aggravation. They just would not hold together long enough to glue them up! I ordered a set of Friul ATL-68 tracks, which fit almost perfectly! 105 links per side, dunked in Black 4 Tracks, then washed with oils, I think they came out pretty well.

I still need to scuff up the edges of the tracks, but wanted to post these up before I head for work. Thanks for looking!

Ahh, very cool subject. I had the Trumpeter kit of this for a while and never got around to building it. I've always liked the little weird beobachtungs panzers. Yours looks very nice!

Hey thanks, guys! Tom, I'm pretty sure this is the Bronco kit, the Weijun Models logo is a running horse. :laugh: You are quite right about the size, quite a switch from the behemoths I usually build! All those itty bitty track links! Really, other than the kit tracks not fitting together, it's pretty much straight from the box. I made new grab handles on the rear deck, the antennas and the lucky horse shoe on the MG shield. Ya gotta have a lucky horse shoe!

Sure hope the horseshoe was not from a French horse otherwise it did not work since it is now under new management.

Hello Friends!!

I am, as you may know, fairly new to this venue of modeling and have been trying out many new techniques. Here is my second attempt at a base and groundwork.

I need to go back and add some dust and grime, but I wanted to share these for some feed back from the experts. Thanks for looking!

I'm certainly no expert on the equipment. From a diorama standpoint I would roughen up the grass where the tank drove over it. The tall grass looks almost like pile of well places sticks. The scale is a bit big to stand alone. I would add some more fine tall grass to make this more natural. You can use some old paint brush bristles, cut them down dab them in a bit of glue and place a bit shorter than the tall stuff you have now. paint with some oil/terp washes.

The figure and H39 came out great.
