Thanks to the tariffs, let's NOT make this a political post, I started looking for a US supplier of an aftermarket detail set and I came across a vendor in Texas whose selection surprised me as I saw some VERY old favorites and things I haven't seen at the other online shops such as Liang (3D military accessories), Green Strawberry (for the Sci-Fi modelers), lots of resin car bodies for the likes of @paddy and @Boogie Man, diorama items (@Cheyenne), and the rest for us aircraft and armor modelers!

This caught my eye:

I think its interesting that even at the end of the war its estimated that up to 80% of German military transport was still by horse and yet the war machine was turning out what was effectively a tank restricted by rail tracks. Less than 20% of the German army was mechanised .
A recent program i watched showed mile after mile of dead Germans and horses along the roads during the retreat from France in late 44.
I know that some of this was fuel supplies but given the main threat to trains were rocket firing Typhoons i wonder why they produced these armoured trucks ?

The German fully armoured trains were used primarily on the Eastern Front for security duties (anti-partisan patrols, reconnaisance, maintenance crew protection, securing bridges, tunnels and depots) and offensive and defensive combat support. They often included flat cars with light tanks (Pz 38T or Somua S35) and armoured troop cars for infantry support. The individual armoured wagons were also included in "soft trains" transporting troops, equipment and supplies providing protection against partisan and air attack.

I believe I have the Cyber Hobby release of the Artilleriewagen in the stash along with a flat car and gondola car.

Cheers,
RichB
