As things were progressing on the AFV Sturmtiger I was browsing the internet looking for as much info on it as I could find trying to decide on how I was going to paint it. The problem is I've only ever done one three colour camo scheme, using Humbrol enamels,
and I haven't done a lot of tracked vehicles for a long time so I'm still working out techniques etc. I really don't want to use my SturmTiger as a guinea pig, and since I had a Dragon Kingtiger kit lurking around half done I thought I'd finish it off and at the same time work out how I'm going to paint and weather my Sturm kit.
I'd say that this is an OK kit, but I wouldn't call it a great kit. I picked it up cheap, primarily for the figures that were supposed to come with it, but when I got it home I discovered why it was cheap........no figs, oh well. Having looked around at the Revel KT on line I'd say it's a better kit, and if i do a serious KT that's the one I'm going for.
One of the nicer things about the Revel kit is the link and length tracks, the main reason I stalled on this one was the rubber band tracks, I do not like them, and I had a few problems trying to use them. Any way I decided to bit the bullet and give them another go.
So here is where it's at at the moment. I realized once i started the painting that I had forgot the shovel handle but I'm sure I can do that later without to much trouble.
I'm using Vallejo as the base coat on this and the Sturm, but how to go about the other colours I'm not sure yet, so any comments(good, bad, or ugly), tips and advice most welcome, My understanding is that these things had the green/brown brushed on so I'm not sure the best way to go about it, weather I should try using the hairy stick, or spend a lot of time masking it off.
