Diorama photo ideas...

Hey there
I was thinking this could be of assistance as a reference for interest's sake, as well as a source of inspiration and to possibly rid folk of modeller's block when it comes to the ideas for the next project... Now it will take a team effort to become a viable resource, so as I know all of you have at least one picture stowed somewhere that you'd think would make a good scene, (and so long as you are willing to share this image!) then we can start a good thread.
I'll start with a good overhead shot of a gun emplacement (90mm) during the Bulge.
I thought it interesting for the angle taken of the emplacement, where you can see a lot more than the standard ground level shots. Note the truck driven into the scrub...

Any thoughts or additions?

Yes Brad, here's another...

A somewhat emotive scene from Berlin 1945... Nebelwerfers and Katzenjammers

Hey Matt Good to hear from you...
'Good' shots are subjective! Anything out of the ordinary or scenes that look workable in a diorama or vignette are most welcomed.

Another one here. Ironically about 30 years earlier than the other shots but in colour! Texture of the chopped up and muddied front can easily be seen.

A friend passed me a pdf file with close to 3000 pictures from the Eastern Front, sadly, it is hard to give any credit as to where the photos came from. Still, I pulled a few as I think they meet the criteria for this thread as well as the photo group build...

Hey Travis
Some great photos there!
I love the simplicity of the last one, with the hand painting! I would have assumed a stencil, but in hindsight this makes sense. A steady hand and a straight edge ;)

Not to go too far off topic, but I have seen stencils as well, as a WWII reenactor, the unit I am with has a few original stencils... but with all things in military life, you make do with what you have available... I imagine this is one of those vehicles that was acquired and needed to be redesignated to its adoptive unit...

I saw a picture once that would make a great dio

It was of a battery of false Flak 88`s made out of logs with ( I think) Russian Infantry inspecting them

Now do you think I can find that picture now,......No of course I cant lol

I really like this one, but I would have erased the tire tracks and put a tarp with lines
to match the furrows over the gun when not in use... Would have made it blend in really
nice... Looks like and old well or grain storage silo :idonno???

  I love it mate! What can you tell me about it? Submarine sections?

Here is a classic photo, showing what I believe to be 3AD tankers during the Ardennes Offensive near Malmedy(?)
The variety of uniform and posing is great, and MiniArt has based their new US tanker release on this photograph...

Hi Cheyenne,

Do you have any other picture related to this one? Do you know anything else on this sherman? model, company, campaign...?

I love it, and I'd love to have more news.

Thanks

Giovanni
