Der Rote Kampfflieger

Thanks Mark, turned out I didn't really lose it, never saw it to start with. It's in the same bag as the decals right where it should be. :rotf

Been off work for 12 days in a row with the intent of getting something started. Well this is it. :bang head

Already breaking out the brass rod and tubes. The kit plastic part that is the support for the seat just didn't hold up to handling, the RLM2 part that's bent is the kit part. Replaced it with Brass. Seat dry fits nicely.

You can see me butchering the wood grain effect here. :bang head

Brass is cool. Don't sweat the wood grain, build up several layers of color, it will look the part. :ro:

not sure the sink marks are going to show once everything is in place, keeping options open right now.

Hmm...

Buy yourself a set of water soluble pencil crayons if you are going to try this. First off they can be washed off if you goof and second they can be smudged very nicely when finishing.

Thanks James, not going to drop any money right now, the Prisma pencils do ok.

I forgot that I put in at work to be off till the 7th...:bang head

I went in today, big boss sent me a message asking why I was online, showed me where I put in for the full week so I packed up and went home. About as bad as me going in on MLKjr day and finding the parking lot empty. :rotf

I'll have a good session on the bench tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

I concur . That's what I used on the Widgeon wooden props . They worked great and erase right off ( with an eraser ) if needed. :good:

Still a pleasant surprise :good:

I'd say that is tremendous progress, especially given the parts and materials you're working with. Magnificent work as well. You have good reason to be very pleased with this.
