decal coating?

OK, back to rank beginner and yeah, I am agian trying to pick it up! As such, I seem to recall coating the decal'd areas of the model prior to weathering - ain't (is too a word) that right???
 
That would be the smart thing to do!
Washes and/or filters could peel of your decals if they don't have some layer of varnish on them.

Yes a gloss coat will help with good adhesion and no silvering. Future works well. If sprayed a a couple of drops of amonia (like windex with amonia) to help flow.
