Yeah it looks like we're going to need it here. Thank god they haven't created a 1:16 brass halftrack!

The brass won't be thick enough to simulate the armor Bob. My Sdkfz 222 has an AM set that has the 4 fenders and a bunch of other parts in PE. Just been too busy to get back to it.

I love the Stugs Mike. Have one of these in the stash. Have thought about getting the Winterketten tracks for it. (just because) If they make another one with a different gun or some other goodies, I will get another.

Finished up one run of tracks and when I tried to roll them up to get them ready to install, the Tamiya thin cement did not hold and they came apart....gotta go back over and use the cement instead...

Hey Mike, that has happened to me in the past.
2 methods to fix the issue before it happens -

1. Use tacky White glue - much better than the Tamiya thin and just let it sit for 10 mins or so after gluing before shaping or....
2. Super glue it or tacky white glue while attaching to wheels already on the chassis [but not glued] once dry remove track with wheels attached from chassis for better weathering of tracks/wheels and chassis.

I recomend the second method....

I've seen where rubber cement works for the rubber band tracks Mike.

Well there's no pins for these Paul...a back piece glues over the connection between two track links. The Modelmaster cement seems to have worked Ian...

Got the outer road wheels out of the "bag o' dirt" treatment. The inner side will be pretty well hidden so I didn't bother since its a bit messy, but will add some pigment as needed when I do the underside. Will pop off the return rollers and do the same...then on with the tracks. Also assembling the gun and breech and will then paint it and this limited interior...

It's funny you mentioned the limited interior Mike. It wouldn't surprise me if DW or some aftermarket shop came up with a full interior for these big beasties. I know some folks convert them to remote control for 1/16th scale battles and such. That is what happened to many of the 1/16th scale Schwimmwagen kits that Eduard produced many years ago. That is also why those kits bring big $$ these days as the RC guys want them bad.

Updates on the Das Werk StuG as I wait to prep the base for the T-72. Sometimes these photos are just a good reminder of where I need to sand a bit more and touch up paint. Had a bee buzz my head as I was painting the interior floor which explains the Rotbraun on the side...oops. No radio decals so some creative painting helped with the white bits.

I would follow Ian's advice on the tracks instead of mine. They are still falling apart as I was installing them but I'm almost there...
