Apart from making models I also have another little hobby that is also time consuming and costly ( which is probably why I do it periodically ) and that is I love to build my own computers, so if any of you do the same then shove up some pics of your rig

Heres an inside shot of mine and if anyone is interested then ill shout out the components and if anyone is not interested then theres plenty of awesome models to look at on the other threads

Looks like something out of the battlestar Galactica to me.

I use to build all sorts of PCs back in the day. I think my count was up over 700 custom build systems over the 7 years I had the shop. Nothing like these gaming rigs and what you have Andy. though in the day some of those machines performance was very high, graphic workstations and whatnot.

Funny thing, about 5 years ago, ran into an old customer, one of my first, he asked me if I would be surprised to know that the computer I built for them was still running? I answered...No...:rotf That's why you bought it from me!

Put together the computer i have now, that was in 2003..... damn :facepalm i must soon do it again!!
It was fast then but now i can hardly open a game on it or look at a videoclip :(
Running windows Xp still, have everything set up as i want it, just the speed that's the problem, fear the day when i must get a new one and start with all the adjustments on browsers etc.

OK My monster gamin' system was, and this dates it, a Pentium4 2.2gig Northwood chip. Over clocked it at about 2.5. Had two Diamond Monster 3D SLI video cards (forgot what the primary was). Maxed out the ram that the mother board could take. Remember, I was selling computers back then, I would buy the latest and greatest and then resell it (as used) 3 months later and upgrade yet again..Had 4 hard drives wired in Stripe RAID array.

I played all those flight sims back in the day, Janes titles, the most fun was the Longbow series. Amazing graphics, I'd like to see what graphics can do nowadays.

Actually threw it out like a year ago. Wasn't any point keeping it, sure wasn't worth anything in this day of age.

No pics, but mine was built by me (with some great help from Tom's Hardware) Pentium 4 3.2 g Presscott on an MSI Neo 6 board with ATI graphics and 2 gigs of 3200 ram powered by a 350 w Blue Force PS and a Turtle Bay sound card. I slapped it all into a Black Antec steel case with a couple of DVD burners and 500 gig worth of HDs..Old YES- but I built it to run Doom 3 WAY back in the day. But it still runs great!
I want to build another as a media only platform. I need to learn what I'm doing!

I built a new computer back in February to have a system strong enough to start doing the freelance 3D design work I've been doing.

Went w/ a full ATX Tower. Azza Genesis 4000

Here are the internals I got. MSI Motorboard, Intel I7 Quad Core 3.4ghz processor, 32gig G.Skill Ares Ram (8x4), Galaxy GeForce GTX-660 TI 3gig video card, Cooler Master 850w PSU, and an OCS 120 gig solidstate harddrive.

And here it is installed.

This case is a beast, lots of room left over w/ everything installed.

The motherboard is expandable to put in 2 more video cards, so if I feel the need, and I can afford it, eventually I'll probably get at least 1 more video card.

Unfortunately I dont have any pictures right now of the computer up & running, but there are blue lights across the front & top of the case, and then there are some lights inside the case. The video card has a lighted display on it, and there are some blue system lights on the mobo that really light it up as well. I was thinking about getting some LED fans to put inside the case, but I never have.

Nice one Adam,...some great specs there and a few bits I actually want still for my build namely the PSU and the GPU (y) (y)
