Boeing 737-200

Hi guys! This is what i'm working on now. It's from Airfix in a bit smaller scale than usual for me. It will be finished in Aviatsa livery. Decals are from Nazca.

This is what Ive done so far.

The kit has some issues that I'm trying to improve. Nose is wrong shape. It's too pointy, so I did my best to sand it to shape. It's not perfect but its better than before. Also wheel wells are too shalow.

Whit fuselage halves glued together, I added some details to the main wheel well. There are a lot more wires on the real one.

I just got an early Christmas present from Oldmodels. Same as that, in 1:100 scale. Kit is one I have never heard of, M&S models. It has Nordair decals - the original blue tail - but if I build it in Nordair titles I think I'll use the sunburst scheme, the last one before the company became part of Air Canada.

Never heard of this model, but I sure can't wait to see what you do with it! I like the scheme too!

I scribed some panel lines on my model, but I have to redo some of them. I found beter photos after they were scribed.

Original engines are to short and skinny in the exhaust area, so I will try to fix that too. I though of a plan how to corect the engines. I will replace whole rear part with new schratchbuilt one. If it doesn't work, I'll just extend the original one.

Front end is sawed of, so I can easily fil and sand seam on the inner side.
While I was in sawing mode, I also cut of flaps and slats.

I had two windshield decals, so I tried one on, to see how it looks.

Wings are not glued on yet.

I must watch what you do on the flaps/slats, since I may do the same on the 737 I just got. Are you going to open the reverser buckets? That is the standard seven three, so they are in the correct position. On the ones with the gravel kit the thrust reversers are angled so they don't blow crud directly forward when landing on something other than hard surface. There was also a speed restriction, I seem to remember they had to be stowed below 50 knots.

Jim, yes I want to make thrust reversers open. Doing this, flaps must be fully deployed and this complicates things. I dont really know how to do it yet. I'll have to think of something.

I started with engine modifications. I glued original halfs together and added a styrene tube in the rear. I split it in two and inserted a spacer to make it fit.

Another tube was added to extend it. I added spacer to the fan blades so they are closer to the intake lip.

To make wider pylons, I glued a thin strip where the edge should be. This acted as a guideline for sanding.

Epoxy putty added.

And sanded to shape. Still neds some fine sanding.

Wingtip lights are replaced too. They are a piece of clear resin with driled hole for the bulb and paited clear green and red.

I got me a detail set which will come handy. I realy like 3D windshield decals.

Jim, I took a look at those 737s. Impresive and hard to belive that they can land on strips like that!

I have the wings attached to fuselage and flaps finished. Its not 100% accurate, but I think it looks OK. I'm really happy this is out of my way, becouse it was starting to give me headaches.

I think I'll hold off on my 737. I've had a request to build a Bristol Freighter, the old Airfix kit of the Super Freighter that I shall modify to the standard Bristol 170.
