BMP-3

I have had this one in the stash for awhile and I really wanted to build it. Looks like I will get my chance now. I am going to get about an hour a day during my lunch break to work on it so the progress should be slow but steady.

I also have some PE and metal barrel on order and I may get some aftermarket tracks. The kit links are 2 pieces per link! The AM tracks are about $32 but my sanity may be worth it.

One thing I have found out about this vehicle during research is that it is not very good. It is a very cramped vehicle with a strange layout. It seems most troops like riding on top of it and not in it as it feels like a coffin.

Anyway I like the look of it.

So here goes nothing...

I ordered a PE set on the 26th on ebay and it was supposed to arrive today. I checked the status and it hasn't even shipped yet. :vmad. Seller hasn't been responsive. 1st bad experience on ebay.

:popcorn

Nice start

And all others, Thanks

Just on the off chanceI checked Luckymodel for my BMP-3 tracks (they did not have them yesterday) and they had them in stock for $26 with free shipping!

Instantly placed the order.

They are made by Miniarm and I have seen good reviews of them.

They are resin but have some give and flexibility.

Should be here in a week or two on the slow boat from China.

I started on the road wheels today. These are really nicely detailed with detailed ribbing on the rubber and nice nut and bolt detail. There is an unavoidable problem though. Where do you attach the wheel to the sprue? Some of the rib detail is covered at this point. I cut the wheel from the sprue and then tried to carve the ribs back in. My goal is to not make it perfect just not very noticeable.

Did you see the one about 45 seconds in? Reminded me of a dog jumping in the water going after a stick.

I saw that too! Great analogy!

I've just got to get me one o' these!

Did you get the ModelCollect 1/72 BMP-3?

I would really like to see one of those built

Not yet. Been trying to find that one and the T-14 and a couple others from Modelcollect. Haven't been successful so far.

I received one of my PE sets for this today.

I will not be using every piece of PE as some are not applicable to this version and honestly sometimes the plastic is better detailed.

Still working on the road wheels. Got one side done! :S
