BA-64B

Balki

Beginner
Here's something I have been working on for a while.
It is the Vision Model BA-64B in Polish markings. It is a nice model to work with. Only major problem was the lack of engine and a firewall. I had to create a firewall because without it one would be able to look through the turret and see the "ground".

I will most likely make an adjustment to it or two once I finish the base. Maybe a figure or two.

Have you seen our photo features in the Trusty/Rusty/Crusty/Dusty pages? They may help when adding more details.

Regards,

Neat armoured car. The Styrofoam that is a bit gray in the images looks like the frozen surface of a road. All you need are some tire marks. VBG

Cheers from Peter

Yes, I did see the pictures and they helped. As of right now I will put it aside and start on the base. Once the base is done I will make final "adjustments" to this little 4 wheeler.

Balki,
I love it, (mind you I love all Soviet armor great and small)... ;)
Polish marking suit is just nice. (y)
Is it going to be white washed? I love white wash. :hmmm :idonno
Either way I really like it...
A "quick base" would be great for this little devil
Just a little dirt road (or ice road) and it would be really sweet.
A little recon into German held country with a nice little firefight to
liven up the day. :eek:hmy:

Thanks for all your comments.

 He, he, he... sorry Shawn, no white wash on this one, and no recon into enemy territory. :(

The markings are from 1946 (a bit too late for a recon. ;) )
I was thinking about three possibilities:
1- just a simple street base with a ruined house.
2- a scene in the field (as if they are fighting the Ukrainians in the hills.)
3- a street scene (as if they are "teaching" the general population about the glorious "new regime" they brought with them from the east.)
I am leaning towards 2 or 3 because that part of the post war history is totally unknown here in the U.S. and maybe I will spark someone's interest.

Balki,
I like both idea's...
Check out the section I did on "Quick Bases" at the bottom, I did a few
with buildings (I have a ton more at the house that I have built).

A small update...
I decided to give MiniArt a try. This is the base I will go with:

Not much in the box:

The build was quick and cleanup did not take very long at all. I did not like the gate that came with the kit and made one out of balsa wood. Here it is, all primed and ready for paint:

Balki,
It looks great... Shouldn't the (Z braces) be on the inside of the door?
I have a few of their buildings and haven't built any as of yet,
I kinda use them for scale. The balsa wood door really stands out in
the dio though. Nice work.

Wait a minute...where did this come from?? I totally looked over this thread. Great looking work here. Welcome aboard Balki..

Hi Balki...

Your name for some reason sounds familiar. Maybe we have met on another life?

Anyways good job on the BA-64. I think the base is just about the right size for it. It should look great.

I stuck that gate there just to take a picture, but you are right Shawn, that "Z" brace goes on the inside. I am still working on the braces that secure the gate to the wall. I am also sad to inform that there will not be any updates on this for about a month or even longer. Summer is in full swing and wife decided that we need to go on a family vacation. I am hating it already. Our flights were changed and now we will be stuck in Chicago for 8 hours with two small babies. And to make it more interesting, this morning I got an email from the car rental place that we might not even get a car due to high demand and limited cars. Why can't I just stay on my couch and watch TV for two weeks?

Balki,
I use the little doll house hinges for my doors... Any good hobby
shop that carries doll house stuff has a bunch of different types
and sizes... Check them out while you are one vacation.
Enjoy
Shawn

You don't suppose they would have plan ol hinges that would work on panels and engine lids do ya? Most tedious thing I ever did was making those hinges on the halftrack.

Very nice! What first got my attention was the foam base and wandered how you created such a realistic snow covered field :eek:hmy: Great looking piece of armour and the setting you chose is looking great too

Tim

Balki,
They do make all kinds and sizes, but I'm sure that the guys here
could give you advice on that one...
Go to the help section and ask.
Shawn

I am a big fan of both wheelies and eastern european vehicles ...... and this one my friend is well done .
You have captured the panel fade splendidly and the addition of the tools is very nice.I would like too see more of this with the finished base.
