Anyone live in the Los Angeles (Ontario), CA area?

Thought I'd post up to see if anyone lives in or around the Ontario, CA area.

I'm going to be in Ontario from Jan 20 to Jan 26 for work. I already plan on trying to get to Pegasus Hobbies, and I'm trying to scope out other hobby shops and used bookstores, but dont know what else is around that area.

Was really hoping I'd get a chance to get down to San Diego, since I've not been there since we moved from there to North Carolina in late '93, but it wont happen this trip. Hopefully next trip I can get to SD.

I live about 15-20 minutes driving time to Ontario Airport, so I'm pretty close. I could easily take you to Pegasus Hobbies in Ontario, as well as Military Hobbies in Orange, Brookhurst Hobbies in Garden Grove and Tony's Hobbies and Toys in Baldwin Park. I could even take you to the Yanks and Chino Planes of Fame air museums in Chino. I don't know any used bookstores in the area, but if you have some addresses, I could take you to them as well.

Who knows? If my house is clean enough, I could bring you over to see my 1100+ finished models in my Hobby Room.

Let me know how you want to work this. I can get you my cell number too so we can coordinate if you'd like.

Cool deal, I'll have to let ya know. Not entirely sure what my schedule would be like, but I'm pretty sure I couldn't get to the Planes of Fame museum. I get into Ontario about 2pm on Sun the 20th, and leave at 10am on Sat the 26th. Sunday might be a possibility, but it would be a rush for sure.

I dont know what the schedule is during the week, I dont know what hours I'll be at the plant for training, and I dont know if anything is planned during the evenings. I would assume that at least 1 evening we'll all go out to dinner as a group.

I'll definitely let you know though, would be nice to see the different hobby shops. I love checking out different hobby shops when I travel.

I wish I could Chuk!!

If you'd be game for coming up Sunday afternoon (the 20th) then I'm sure we could work something out, but I'll be back at the airport in Ontario by about 8am on the 26th, so couldn't do anything then.

And I'll definitely bring my MA shirt w/ me, just in case, haha.

Thanks for the schedule Adam. I'll be looking forward to updates. And good idea bringing your MA shirt with you; it'll make it easier to spot you! LOL! :Hiay

MP, you need my address? :dude :silly: :silly: :silly:

Adam, most Hobby Shops here close around 6PM to 8PM; I'll have to find out again which ones. Brookhurst is different; they tend to stay open longer for gamers to get in some combat, but I don't know if their schedule is consistent. Also, I hope you don't mind riding around town in a work truck! (y)

I'll do some homework and see what closes when, and then we can go from there. Is there any day that would work best for you? Like I said, I really don't know what kind of schedule I'm going to have while there. I need to find out what time the training is, 7-4 or 8-5 and then go from there.

And no, riding around in a work truck doesn't bother me any, haha.

Absolutely!! I'll be playing the tourist part real good, taking pics all over the place, haha. Just gotta make sure I've got enough room on my memory card, haha.

And someone take some damn pictures! :mpup

Adam, I am self employed and able to set my own hours. You set the schedule of when and where you want to go and I book it in my calendar. Let me know and I'll get it all booked up.

Mark, found out that our training goes 8-5 M-F. Apparently something is being organized for Friday evening so I was thinking maybe Tuesday or Wednesday evening to hit some of the hobby shops? I'd think we could try on Sunday, but since the flights could be delayed for what ever reason, there's never any telling exactly what time we'll make it into Ontario, and after spending all day traveling, I'd imagine that I'll probably be happy to just kick back at the hotel and rest that evening.

I looked, and Pegasus is open till 7 during the week, so shouldn't have much trouble I would think making it there and have time to look around. Not sure we'd be able to make it to any of the other shops that you mentioned though.

Sounds good. I'll book Tuesday and Wednesday evenings for the grand tours. I believe we may be able to hit Brookhurst Hobbies on one of those days as they are open till 8PM. Tony's Hobbies and Toys are also open till 8PM if you wanted to take Thursday to do something as well.

Something to think about. Meanwhile, keep in touch; I'll book those evenings so your tours will be available.
